Yesterday the streets of Swansea were filled with cyclists donning their favourite Christmas jumpers as they rode the 24 round mile ‘Rudolph Route’ journey from Llandarcy’s Virgin Health and Racquet Club, to Mumbles Pier and back, with a quick pit stop at Action Bikes for a cuppa and a mince pie!
An army of festive cyclists met at Llandarcy in the morning, showing that not even the rain can keep them at bay! When everyone had arrived spirits were high as everyone had a brief from Richard Smith, the owner of Sarn Helen Cycle Events, the organisers of yesterday’s fantastic event. Then before long, they were off!
Stopping first at Action Bikes to pick up some of our cyclists taking part in the shorter ‘Little Elves’ route everyone was chatting and munching away as the rain cleared for our merry band of supporters. Then all together everyone set off to Mumbles Pier, before heading back to Llandarcy for a much earned pint and plate of chips!
There was an impressive number of over fourty cyclists of all ages, dressed in all sorts of wacky and wonderful Christmas jumpers and outfits, all of whom raised £350+ for us to be able to take the children from the Children’s Kidney Centre to see Shrek The Musical in the Wales Millennium Centre.
We cannot thank Sarn Helen Cycle Events enough for organising this event and choosing us as the charity to support. Of course everyone who took part were also amazing, and we look forward to seeing you at the next event!
