First Transplant Café Opens Its Doors in Swansea

The first Paul Popham Fund Transplant Café took place at the Village Hotel in Swansea last week (#villagegreen).

These cafes offer an opportunity for kidney patients to meet their peers within the kidney transplant service who are going through similar experiences. Team members from the transplant service will be available to offer advice and information and there will be presentations from guest speakers including dieticians, surgeons, pharmacists and more.  Friends and family are also welcome.

During the event, one our befrienders, Geraint, talked about his experience of trekking to Everest Base Camp, and shared details of the fund’s ‘Walk for Health’ group which takes place every last Sunday of each month.

Renal Dietician Amy De Beaux also discussed post-transplant diet and handed out recipe books and resources.

Our Transplant cafes take place bi-monthly on Fridays from 11 am to 1 pm at the Village Hotel, Langdon Road, Swansea SA1 8QY. Future dates are 13th Dec 2019, 7th Feb 2020, 24 April 2020 and 19 June 2020.
