For the 4th year running, 15 runners from the Paul Popham Fund Renal Support team will be entering the Swansea Half Marathon to raise funds for the charity.
In addition, to the charity team, a further 20 plus runners from the Paul Popham Running Club are entering the race with many of the members also raising funds for the fund; and a team of volunteers will also be acting as marshals on the day.
All monies raised by the runners will be used to fund a family day out this July for children and youths, their parents and siblings. This is a new initiative where families can enjoy a day out together and gain support and advice from other families going through a similar journey to them. The day will be supported by the Paul Popham Befriending Team and staff within the Renal Services.
Says Joanne Popham, fund manager, “This day out go a long way in helping to improve the self-esteem and confidence in these young patients by taking part in outdoor activities and giving the chance to speak to other young people going through the same thing.”
