Since our inception in 2013 we have had a team of runners take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon, each runner has an individual goal which ranges from completing their first half marathon to achieving a personal best however as a team our joint goal has been to raise awareness and money for the Paul Popham Fund and to support each other achieve their personal goals. We do this by offering advice and information on training plans, nutrition and funsdraising by email and/or group meetings and we also arrange group training for those who are keen to run with others and motivate each other. Once the race is over we have a post run celebratory lunch in the Novotel Hotel Cardiff where we celebrate everyones personal achievements and thank all runners for raising money and awareness for PPF, we recognise the fastest male and female in our team and all receive a certificate of recognition.
As a result our running team developed over time and we decided to organise a 10 mile training run to coincide with the Cardiff Half that takes in the undiscovered beauty of Swansea Vale River Path. The winner of our very first 10 Mile race was Nick Francis, Co-Founder and Director of the newley developed Swansea Half Marathon. Nick and David Martin Jewel introduced and organised Swansea’s very first half marathon in 2014 with the support of JCP Solicitors. As we are a Swnansea based charity we decided to change our 10mile race date to coincide with Swansea Half Marathon in 2015 and onwards and in conjunction with this planning we are keen to build our running team for Swansea Half Marathon not only to support our cause but to support Swansea Half Marathon and Swansea City as a community. Our 10 Mile and 5 Mile and kids race will take place on 17th May 2015: Wear Wally & Run 4 Life.
