For those of you who may be missing the usual face-to-face support offered to renal patients in South Wales, there are a variety of online virtual support groups, meetings and forums available, as well as telephone counselling services and carelines which should go some way to help support you and your families at this difficult time.
It’s important for you to realise that despite the lockdown you are not on your own, and whatever your issue may be, there is help available.
Trouble getting essentials
If you have been asked to shield and are self-isolating but have had trouble accessing essentials such as food, call our Careline for advice and support 0800 038 89 89.
Are you a Kidney patient suffering with anxiety? Whether your anxiety is due to the current pandemic or other causes, please get in touch with our Peer Mentor Team. The team is made up pf people who are either kidney patients, carers or trained counsellors.
Use our counselling service

On-line support for Parents or Carers
Are you a parent or carer of a young person with kidney failure? Our Careline is available 9:00am-6:00pm, 7 days a week by the charity’s Befriending (Peer Mentor) Team, who are either kidney patients, carers or family members who have been trained to become volunteers for the charity. They have first-hand knowledge of what patients are going through during this time and can offer advice, information, support or even simply a friendly voice to chat to.

Online Support for Home Dialysis in Wales
If you are a kidney patient dialysing at home, you may be interested to know we have an On-Line Support Group – Home Therapies Kidney Café
This is a Support group for patients undergoing any type of home dialysis therapy. During this unprecedented time the group can be accessed on-line. On-Line Support for Transplant Patients

(This is named ‘South Wales Transplant Café’ due to the face-to-face meetings taking place in South Wales, but North Wales patients are welcome to join the group and contribute).
