60 runners across our 5 and 10 mile routes turned up for the events, tripling our numbers on the previous year. Next year we are looking at having a possible 250 runners take part in a great warm up event to the Swansea Half Marathon! We also had a great turn out for our kids race, giving us some really good and exciting ideas for next year.
Our runners were on great form, with our fastest 5 miler and fastest 10 miler crossing the finish line together, husband and wife Nick and Georgia Francis. Nick got the title of fastest man on the 10 mile with a time of 1 hour 9 minutes and 41 seconds, and with Georgia getting the fastest woman for the 5 mile at a time of 45 minutes and 40 seconds. Our fastest woman for our 10 mile event wasn’t far behind, coming in at 1 hour 23 minutes and 9 seconds was the lovely Sara Reed. Our fastest man for our 5 mile race was the wonderful Kevin Barry at 47 minutes!
From us at PPF, we just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in one way or another, for Life Gym for letting us take over their reception area with paperwork, bananas and apples and a wonderful post run buffet done by Linda Madge. We want to say a massive thank you to Jackie Balboni and Jayne Smith for all of their hard work and involvement in the event. Jayne was able to secure us a ‘Slice of the Pie’ charity donation from Peter’s Pies, which meant we were able to have a fantastic official race arch for this year’s race! We had an amazing amount of donations for the event from SPAR in Morriston for apples and bananas, Ty Nant for lots of bottles of water, Swansea Life for magazines, SW Evening Post for bags, Tredz for water bottles, Body Freaks for protein bars and powders plus everyone’s donations on the day!
We would also like to say a really big thank you to Kevin Thomas of KXT Photography for coming down last minute on a Sunday morning to capture the day in a series of photos.
We can’t wait to see you all next year for Wear Wally and Run For Life 2016!
