Kilometres for Kanines – Paws for a Cause – raises over £300 for Children’s Kidney Centre
Pugs, Labradors, poodles; dogs and dog walkers alike came together on August 21 to raise money for our charity, The Paul Popham Fund, Renal Support Wales.
The charity dog walk, successfully raised a over £300. The money raised from this event will go towards our BIG project supporting the refurbishment of the Children’s Kidney Centre, which will cost over £130,000 in total.
Fundraisers were able to raise money and take part in our charity dog walk by either completing a lap of the beautiful Singleton Park, or by virtually finishing a mile walk with their canine companion.
Once the furry finishers were done, participants enjoyed discounted drinks at Flynn’s Coffee, Singleton, who kindly offered a 10% discount to our fundraisers.
The money-raising pooches were rewarded for their efforts with a dog bandana and a Paul Popham fund approved certificate, as well as some tasty treats – for which we would like to thank Killay Pet Shop and Burns Pet Nutrition for supplying.
We sincerely thank every dog and dog walker for their participation, and we deeply appreciate all the generous support given by the fundraisers and businesses.
Anna Powell, our Children and Youth Community Engagement Officer, said:
“We had a great day, and it was lovely seeing all the dogs and their owners participating. We would like to thank everyone who did their bit – both the participants and the businesses who supported the event.”
Jo Popham, our CEO, said:
“We’re very grateful to our four-legged friends – and their owners – for helping us to raise this considerable amount of over £300. These funds are so important to help our charity support children and youths with kidney disease and their families, and it provides another boost towards our target of raising more than £130,000 for the refurbishment of the Children’s Kidney Centre Outpatient Department.”
Shaun, a participant at the event, added:
"We had a great time and we are keen to support the charity anyway we can. We are looking forward to the next one."
