Congratulations you did it !!! Two of Paul Popham Fund’s Exercise for Health Members successfully passed their Mountain Training Lowland Walk Leader Training Course.
We are proud to announce that two of our Exercise for Health Members have successfully passed their Mountain Training Lowland Walk Leader Training Course. Our dynamic duo Geraint John and Colin Beynon started the qualification in October 2019 and last weekend was their final assessment, before they were given the good news that they had passed the course. This qualification was not for the faint hearted and Geraint and Colin were put through the paces using a variety of assessment/training methods which involved Navigation Training, an Outdoor First Aid Course, observing best practice when training potential Lowland Leader Trainees and an examination. Due to the pandemic the qualification took just over 2 years to complete but we applaud Geraint and Colin’s grit and determination to see it through to the end. Both Geraint and Colin truly epitomise the Charity's Motto "Believe in Yourself" and they both deserve a well earned rest.
Both Geraint and Colin would like to give a special mention to Tread Gower and Stuart Mackinnon and thank them for their support.
Geraint commented :
“I found this to be a difficult but extremely satisfying course, carried out with a fantastic group of fellow trainees. Whilst being trained and guided by incredibly knowledgeable, patient, humorous, at times strict and very probing questioning to make sure we had the full grasp of the subject. We were suitably both exhausted and exhilarated at being given a pass at the end of the 2 days.
It’s a pleasure to help out and support Geraint in the Exercise for Health Group and I have met some very interesting people. so well worth it!
Both Geraint and Colin are qualified to lead our Exercise for Health Group and they are looking forward to planning new routes for their members so watch this space.
